The NTC is proud to host a presentation from Jeff Brand, a .NET Developer on the Microsoft Developer and Platform Team in Minneapolis, MN. In this session, we will explore the world of Silverlight development. Covering the key parts of the Silverlight environment, tooling, and associated frameworks, this will be a fast paced tour of Microsoft Silverlight. Demonstrations of XAML, data-binding, styling, and prototyping will all be covered in this fast-paced hour. While at Microsoft, he has been a consultant, an ecommerce specialist, and an enterprise technology advisor. Today, Jeff is a .NET Developer Evangelist for Microsoft's North Central District. He lives in Minneapolis and often travel to the surrounding states of Nebraska, Iowa, and the Dakotas. In his current role, he is responsible for working with developers and customers that are evaluating or using .NET and assisting in them in understanding and using Microsoft's developer platform. |

The NTC is proud to host a presentation from Benji Hanson, a graduate student at the College of Saint Scholastica and a contractor working for the Environmental Protection Agency Office of Research at the Mid-Continent Ecology Division in Duluth, Minnesota Whether you have never heard of Virtualization or are already utilizing, take the opportunity to learn from a fellow Northland Organization who has studied the before and after of implementing Virtualization technology. Server virtualization technologies have become commonplace in recent years and are often used to maximize datacenter efficiency while minimizing hardware and space requirements. This final applied project explores the energy consumption characteristics of a production server environment before and after server virtualization. Quantifying energy usage in this manner will assist companies who are considering integrating server virtualization into their IT strategy. Benji Hanson is a contractor working for the Environmental Protection Agency Office of Research at the Mid-Continent Ecology Division in Duluth, Minnesota. He administers Windows, Unix, and telecommunications systems at the Duluth research site and collaborates with contract staff at other EPA sites on enterprise IT projects such as virtualization, voice over IP, and IT management systems. He has worked for Computer Sciences Corporation for 9 years, and has been working in the Information Technology field for over 12 years. |

Students from CSS, LSC, UMD, UWS and WITC interested in computing careers are encouraged to attend.We'll meet at 3:15pm @ St. Marys Hospital Auditorim in Miller-Dwan Building 502 East 2nd Street Duluth, MN 55805 This is in there Auditorium so substantial space is available.
