The Impact of Server Virtualization on Energy Consumption in Modern Datacenters - Thursday June 17th
  • What is Virtualization?
  • Are you considering Virtualization?
  • Have you implemented Virtualization and are wondering what the impacts on Energy Consumption may be?

The NTC is proud to host a presentation from Benji Hanson, a graduate student at the College of Saint Scholastica and a contractor working for the Environmental Protection Agency Office of Research at the Mid-Continent Ecology Division in Duluth, Minnesota

Whether you have never heard of Virtualization or are already utilizing, take the opportunity to learn from a fellow Northland Organization who has studied the before and after of implementing Virtualization technology.

Server virtualization technologies have become commonplace in recent years and are often used to maximize datacenter efficiency while minimizing hardware and space requirements. This final applied project explores the energy consumption characteristics of a production server environment before and after server virtualization. Quantifying energy usage in this manner will assist companies who are considering integrating server virtualization into their IT strategy.

When: Thursday June, 17th 2010
Where: UMD Center for Economic Development, (Suite 210 of the Duluth Technology Village, 11 East Superior Street)
